About Mr. Simoens

I was born and raised on the western slope of Colorado and feel very fortunate to still be able to call this amazing region home. I graduated from Western State Colorado University with a Bachelor's degree in Economics in 2011 and a Masters in Education in 2015.

Aside from teaching, I am passionate about spending time outside. I enjoy backcountry snowboarding, Nordic skiing, hiking, trail running, climbing mountains, fishing, hunting and camping. When not in the classroom I am likely to be outside doing some combination of these things.

I also love sports! I ran NCAA track and cross country for two years and currently train for ultra marathons. I coach 7th grade boys basketball and truly believe that being a student athlete gives kids an incredible opportunity to develop extremely valuable life skills.

I am passionate about teaching and believe that education is one of the most important investments that a society can make in their future. It is important for every child to have access to a baseline of education so that they can be empowered to make decisions as to how they wish to contribute to society.
